Before you begin

Think about the job you want your agent to do — you can refine all of this later:

• Who will it talk to — customers, employees, or both?
• What should it help with — answering questions, taking action, or routing conversations?
• What does it need to know — which documents, websites, or systems hold the answers?

Your first agent in five steps

1. Create an agent and give it a name.
2. Describe what it does in plain language — this shapes its behavior and personality.
3. Add knowledge — connect the documents, websites, or answers it should draw from.
4. Test it — chat with your agent in a safe environment and refine its responses.
5. Publish — launch it to your chosen channel.

TIP

Start small. A focused agent that does one thing well is easier to launch — and easier for your customers to trust — than one that tries to do everything at once. You can always add more later, just by asking.
